A Dialogue on "Who is God?"

Disciple:  Oh, Master! I'm confused. Tell me where God is.

Master:  Tell me where He is not.

Disciple:  If He is everywhere, why I couldn't see Him?

Master: A sprout cannot bear fruits.  Wait. Know thyself, you will see God.

Disciple: Then, tell me Who I am?  Am I not Kuswant?

Master :  Your name is not you. That is a label pasted on you for identification.

Disciple : I am this very body, I think.

Master:  Your body is not you.  That is the house where you stay in for sometime.

Disciple: Am I my mind?

Master : No. That is your unreal self.

Disciple: Then, which is my real self?

Master : Consciousness is you.

Disciple: Can I know God with my consciousness?

Master: Consciousness knows everything.

Disciple: How can I get consciousness?

Master:  Silence which keeps your mind absent makes your consciousness present.

Disciple: Can you define God?

Master : God is nothing and everything.

Disciple: nothing and everything? How?

Master: Everything is a journey between two nothingness.  Everything comes from nothing and goes into nothing.

Disciple: I don't understand.

Master:  All sounds come from silence and disappear into silence.  All scenes come from darkness and disappear into darkness.  All forms come from empty space and disappear into it at the end. Origin and end are God, the nothingness.  And in between everything goes on, his drama.

Disciple: If God is nothingness, why should we worship him.

Master: Nothingness is always full of something.  An empty pot may look to have nothing.  But it is full of air.  Air may appear to have nothing but it is full of gases.  People worship God from whom everything and everybody came.  He is everywhere, within all of us. He everoperates countless suns and stars in the universe.

Disciple: Isn't God in the temple?

Master: He is not only in the temple.

Disciple: Is he with a form or formless?

Master: He is formless, bodyless, fatherless, motherless, birthless and deathless, mindless, beginningless, endless.  He is absolute darkness and silence.  But the opposite is also true.

Disciple: How?

Master: Ocean which is permanent is God and the waves which are temporary are also God.  Without form, he is permanent, the origin and source of all existence and functions. With form, he is temporary.  All appearances which are temporary are just his manifestations.  He is permanent as He is.  But He is temporary as His appearances, like you and me.

Disciple : what are the ways to realise God?

Master: Silence, truth, self realisation, love and consciousness are the ways.

Disciple: What is the use of knowing God?

Master: You remain undisturbed, whether you have joys or sorrows, failure or success, loss or gain.  You are at absolute bliss for ever.  Your non-stop awareness becomes a lighthouse for thousands of wandering ships.

Disciple: Will I reach God after my death?

Master : No.  You will have to be reborn until you are enlightened.
